Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a Toronto man for the trafficking of a female in Peel Region.

In early August, officers investigated allegations of a female being taken advantage of in the sex industry throughout the GTA between 2019 and 2022.

“The allegations are that the suspect exercised control over aspects of the victim’s life and profited financially from it,” said police.

On Wednesday, Aug. 31, 44 year old Toronto man Lemar Nicholson turned himself in to police.

He is charged with material benefit from sexual services (living off the avails), failing to comply with an undertaking, and exercising control, direction or influence.

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton today (Sept. 1).

Investigators believe there may be more victims, particularly in the GTA.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121 ext. 3555, or anonymously contact Peel Crime Stoppers.
