Man charged with human trafficking following investigation at Burlington hotel

The Halton Regional Police Service’s (HRPS) Human Trafficking Unit has arrested and charged a Quebec man for human trafficking related offences.

Police say on February 10, 2021, officers in the Human Trafficking Unit were conducting an investigation at a hotel located in Burlington and arrested 19-year-old Critz Dorsainvil-Exius for his involvement in trafficking a female victim.

According to police, Dorsainvil-Exius has been charged with procuring by exercising control, direction, or influence over movements of a person, knowingly advertise sexual services, trafficking in persons and receive material benefit (two counts) and was held pending a bail hearing.

Police say the female victim was referred to the Halton Regional Police Service Victim Services Unit.

The Victim Services Unit connects victims to appropriate support services in the community, assists with victim care, and, through the Victim Quick Response Program (VQRP+), can provide immediate short-term financial support toward essential expenses for victims of violent crime.

Police believe there may be additional victims in regards to this investigation and are asking anyone who has come into contact with Dorsainvil-Exius or has information to contact the Human Trafficking Unit at 905-825-4747 ext. 5331.
