Man charged in sexual assault that left victim with significant injuries in Brampton

One man faces charges in a sexual assault that left the victim with significant injuries in Brampton.

The victim was in the area of Queen Street and Kennedy Road in Brampton when she met with the suspect on Jan. 12, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.

It is alleged that the suspect forcefully confined the victim in a nearby building where he physically and sexually assaulted her.

A weapon was used in the sexual assault and the victim suffered significant injuries, police said.

Phillip Gray, 30, no fixed address, is charged with:

  • Sexual assault cause bodily harm
  • Strangulation
  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Forcible confinement
  • Utter threats to cause death
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order

Police added Gray is facing charges for two prior violent offences.

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
