Man charged in connection with 48 vehicle break-ins in Mississauga

Peel police say an arrest has been made following a months-long investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins across parts of Mississauga.

According to investigators with the Peel Regional Police, officers began receiving numerous reports in December 2025 involving vehicles that had been broken into in residential areas of the city.

The incidents were concentrated around Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue, and Regents Terrace, prompting an investigation by the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Police say the investigation was supported by the BEAR Unit (Break and Enter, Auto Response), along with uniform patrol officers, as they worked to identify a suspect connected to the crimes.

On Jan. 26, 2026, officers arrested 20-year-old Basil Ass’ad, who police say is believed to be responsible for 48 separate vehicle break-and-enter incidents. Ass’ad is listed as having no fixed address.

He has been charged with multiple offences, including 48 counts of mischief over $5,000, two counts of theft over $5,000, five counts of theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property, and fraud under $5,000.

Police said Ass’ad was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional details at this time.
