Two very lucky men are celebrating lotto wins, and one is planning to invest some of his jawdropping $17.6 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot in his education.

OLG recently announced that Dwayne Reid has that “6/49 feeling” after winning the $17,613,060.20 jackpot in the Nov. 30, 2019, Lotto 6/49 draw. Reid matched all six numbers to win the jackpot.

He also won $5 on another selection on the same ticket bringing his total winnings to $17,613,065.20.

“I scanned my ticket on the OLG Lottery App the morning after the draw. The app went off like crazy and the full prize amount showed up on the screen,” said Reid, 39, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I kept scanning my ticket to see if it was for real!”

OLG says Reid shared the news with his mom, brother and sister that afternoon.

“They didn’t believe me at first. I had to keep scanning the ticket to prove it.”

OLG says Reid has won before.

“I won close to $6,000 with Lotto Max four years ago. I always buy my tickets at the same retailer – I’ve had good luck with them.”

OLG says Reid’s top priority is to invest in his education.

“I’ll be signing up to go back to school in September. I’d like to work towards a college diploma in logistics management. Education has always been important to me and my family.”

He also plans to take some trips.

“First I’ll visit family in Jamaica and then I’d like to see Italy and France. This money will help make the experiences truly enjoyable,” he told OLG, adding that a new home is also on his list.

“I was up last night at 3 a.m. looking at real estate online.”

There’s also another lucky winner in Mississauga.

OLG says Luis Morais took a spin on The Big Spin Wheel at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to win $100,000. Morais won a top prize with OLG’s The Big Spin Instant game (Game #3101).

“I found out about my big win when I scanned my ticket at the store. The retailer was super excited but I stayed cool,” Morais, a 70-year-old environmental consultant, told OLG.

The married father of four and grandfather of one has no plans yet for his windfall.

The winning ticket was purchased at Hasty Market on Bristol Road in Mississauga.
