Man arrested in Mississauga homicide investigation

Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have made an additional arrest in connection to the homicide of 26-year-old, Mario Ibrahim.

On Sunday, October 20, 2019, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Ibrahim, along with his friend, left a business establishment in Mississauga.

As they were travelling eastbound on Highway 401, approaching Highway 427, a dark-coloured SUV pulled alongside their vehicle and shot at them various times. The vehicle was struck several times but no one sustained any physical injuries.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 11:50 p.m., officers attended in front of a condominium building located on Webb Drive in Mississauga in regards to a shooting. Officers then located 26-year-old, Ibrahim from Stouffville, who was suffering from gunshot wounds.

To date, the investigation revealed that the victim was seated in a vehicle when the suspect walked up to the vehicle and fired multiple bullets towards the victim before the suspect fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV.

The victim dies from sustained injuries despite the efforts made by first-responders.

The ongoing investigation has determined that this shooting was planned and premeditated.

Investigators have also seized a brown 2012 Infinity IFX SUV, the vehicle that was used in the homicide of Ibrahim and was believed to have been used in the attempted murder incident on Highway 401 that took place on October 20, 2019.

On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, Brandon Drakes-Simons, a 24-year-old man from Mississauga was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder.

Melnee Christian, a 24-year-old woman from Mississauga was arrested in Calgary for First Degree Murder before being later returned to Ontario.

The homicide investigation into Drakes-Simon and his associates has led investigators to uncover evidence from a robbery and shooting that took place on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 1:41 a.m. at an adult entertainment club located in Mississauga on Invader Crescent.

The incident involved a female victim being robbed of money and property and shots were fired. There were no injuries sustained to anyone as a result.

During this robbery, the same dark coloured Infinity SUV used in the homicide was used.

On Monday, December 30, 2019, Jason Williams, a 38-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Ibrahim.

The investigation into the attempted murder on October 20, 2019, is continuing and there is an anticipation for further charges.

Justin Malcolm, a 34-year-old man from Brampton, remains wanted for robbery and firearm-related offences which are in relation to the robbery and shooting incident that occurred on Invader Crescent.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone knows of his whereabouts, they are asked to call 9-1-1 and not to approach him.
