A man has been arrested on charges of dangerous driving, assault, and fleeing from police in Mississauga.

On Friday (Sept. 22) at approximately 6:10 p.m., Peel Regional Police responded to the area of Annegem and Edwards Blvd., south of Hurontario St., for reports of an assault.

Upon arrival, police say, the accused fled the area in a 2023 White Volkswagen Atlas with the license plate number CXLR112.

According to investigators, the accused’s reckless driving posed a significant risk to both public safety and law enforcement officers.

Despite police attempts to halt the vehicle, the suspect managed to evade capture, officers say.

On Saturday (Sept. 23) police successfully located and apprehended Chirag Patel, who had no fixed address, in connection with the outstanding warrant. Additionally, the vehicle was seized.

Patel has been charged with several offences including three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, mischief over $5000, assault, and flight from police.

Police say Patel was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
