A 23-year-old Burlington man is facing charges after being arrested in the parking lot of Aldershot High School Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Halton Police investigated after receiving several calls regarding a male suspect driving around the area sexually propositioning high-school aged females.

The incidents occurred in the afternoon and the vehicle being utilized by the suspect was a 2013, black, four-door Volkswagen Jetta.

Officers found the vehicle unoccupied in the school’s parking lot. A short time later the suspect returned to his vehicle and was arrested.

Sukiran Sirtharan has been charged with two counts of invitation to sexual touching and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information or who came into contact with Sirtharan to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at the website.

The school informed families and students of the incident in an email sent last night.

Aldershot principal Rebeccea Newcombe told families in the email that an individual “who is not part of our school community” was “arrested in the parking lot” of the school Tuesday afternoon following an incident involving Aldershot students.

“As this is a police matter, further information will be shared by police as required. We will notify families if there are updates,” she said. “The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority. We appreciate the quick response of Halton police.”
