Man arrested after police raid at Oshawa storage facility finds rifles, drugs

An Oshawa man is facing several charges after a police search of a storage facility in the city found two rifles and a quantity of drugs over the weekend.

The Durham Regional Police Guns and Gangs Unit wrapped a local investigation on February 12 when they executed a search warrant at a storage facility on Taunton Road.

The raid found two rifles, opioids, methamphetamine and Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), commonly known as a date rape drug.

James McDonald, 35 of Oshawa, faces numerous firearm and drug related offences including; two counts of careless storage of a firearm, two counts of contravention of storage regulations, two counts of loaded firearm, failure to comply with release order, and three counts of possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the crystal meth, opioids and GHB respectively.

McDonald will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
