Man arrested after an attempted kidnapping of three-year-old in Hamilton

A man is in police custody this evening after a three-year-old boy was nearly abducted from his mother’s side in Hamilton.

The victim and his mother were in the Mary St and Cannon St E area of Hamilton shortly after Noon August 25. A man first tried to lure the boy over, then approached him and tried to pull him away from his mother.

Witness at the scene saw the attempt an intervened. The boy was unharmed in the abduction attempt.

The unidentified man, 34 from Hamilton, tried to leave the area, but was promptly arrested. He is charged with abduction of a person under 14 appeared in court August 26.
