Man armed with knife assaults Oshawa Subway staffer; leaves empty-handed

Two days after a woman with a steel pipe robbed a downtown Oshawa Subway shop a second shop in the city was targeted, this time at Stevenson and Rossland roads and by a man armed with a knife.

Police were called to the restaurant Tuesday afternoon just before 5 p.m. after getting a call about the robbery.

Investigators say the suspect entered the shop and made a purchase. After the employee opened the cash register the suspect brandished the knife and demanded cash. The employee closed the cash and after further threats with the knife were made the suspect assaulted the employee.

The suspect then fled on foot.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

He is described as male, Black with a light complexion, 20-25 years old, approximately 5’9″ and 160 lbs and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, a black mask, black gloves and white shoes.
