Man and woman shot dead in Hamilton, police negotiate with suspect

A man and a woman are dead after a daytime shooting in a Hamilton residential area.
Hamilton Police have closed off the Stoney Creek neighbourhood after responding to gunshot calls late this afternoon (May 27).
Reports say the man and a woman were found dead at the scene and that gunfire continued as police arrived. Heavily armed police can be seen surrounding a house.
Tonight a suspect remains barricaded in a home in the Barton St. and Jones Rd. area. Police say the man they are negotiating with is in his 50s.
Those who live in the area have been told to stay indoors and not to leave their homes.
The neighbourhood has been sealed off by police and traffic has been rerouted through the area and the media is being kept away from getting close to the scene.
