Two people, including a teenager, have been arrested and charged following an armed carjacking in Brampton earlier this week.

The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. on Tuesday (July 18), when the victim was driving in the area of Sunny Meadow Boulevard and Sandalwood Parkway East.

“While stopped at a stop sign the victim’s vehicle was rear-ended by the suspect vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen,” said Peel Regional Police.

When the victim exited the vehicle, the culprit allegedly approached while pointing a handgun and demanded the victim’s keys.

The culprit then entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.

The victim did not suffer any injuries, according to police.

Following an investigation, officers arrested 20-year-old Toronto man Abdullahi Ali and a 16-year-old male from Toronto, who are both charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Ali was additionally charged with escaping lawful custody.

They were both held for a bail hearing and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, July 19.

The teen’s identity is currently protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
