Man accused of crashing stolen U-Haul into Hamilton police cruisers and home

Hamilton police say a man has been arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen U-Haul into a home early this morning.

Police say an officer ran the U-Haul’s plates after seeing it around 1:30 a.m. and found it had been reported stolen.

Investigators say the driver started moving when more police arrived and almost hit an officer.

Officers say the U-Haul hit three police cruisers before crashing into the home.

Police say the driver stopped after the U-Haul hit the building’s fire escape staircase.

Investigators say a 54-year-old man with no fixed address is charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possessing property obtained by crime.
