Man, 51, dead after crash on Ontario highway

A man is dead after a crash in Ontario on Sunday, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers responded to a collision on Highway 542 in Central Manitoulin Township at around 6:45 p.m.

The crash involved one vehicle — a pickup truck — and one occupant.

A 51-year-old man from Port Elgin was pronounced dead.

Highway 542 was closed between Monument and Lakeshore roads following the incident.

There’s no word on what may have caused the crash.

“The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP technical collision investigators and reconstructionist,” officers said.
