One man is dead and another is in custody after an apparent homicide by blunt force trauma in Brampton on Wednesday (July 20).

At 8:34 a.m., Peel police and Brampton Fire & Emergency Services responded to a disturbance call for a male possibly injured at a residence in the area of Wanless Dr. and Winston Churchill Blvd.

When police arrived at the home they located an adult male outside and another man inside the residence suffering from blunt-force trauma wounds.

Police spokesperson Natalie Hiltz said life saving efforts were made on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male on scene was taken into custody and the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Hiltz was unable to comment on the relationship between the two men or their connection to the property, and police were unable to provide any additional details on the victim or the man taken into custody.

Wanless Dr. was closed in both directions from Winston Churchill Blvd. to Heritage Rd. as police investigate, and residents are being asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
