Male dead in Niagara Falls shooting; two people sought

One person is dead, and police are searching for two people in a shooting in Niagara Falls on Thursday evening.

Emergency crews responded to a male shot at a home on Thorold Stone Road near Dorchester Road at approximately 8:50 p.m. on July 16, Niagara Regional Police said.

Investigators believe two people went to the home, and shot the male with a handgun.

The male was transported to hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services but succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Police did not identify the male or provide his age.

Police are looking for a man and woman in connection with the shooting.

The man is 25 to 35 years old, five foot six inches tall with a skinny build and dark skin. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and shoes, sunglasses and a red bandana.

The woman is 18 to 25 years old with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She was wearing baggy blue sweatpants, a grey hooded sweatshirt and white shoes.

The man and woman parked nearby and fled the scene in a newer model white Nissan SUV, possibly similar to a Rogue, police said.

The Homicide Unit has taken carriage of the investigation.

Police believe the incident is targeted; however, members of the public should exercise caution as the suspects and firearm are still outstanding.

Detectives ask businesses in the area of Thorold Stone Road and Dorchester Road to review any video surveillance footage and contact police if the suspect or suspect vehicle is observed.

Police urge the suspects to speak with a lawyer and turn themselves in.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and more information will be made available as it becomes known, police said.
