The Oshawa Generals clinched the top seed in the Eastern Conference Friday night for the first since their Memorial Cup winning season in 2015 with a 2-1 overtime victory in Kitchener and followed up that triumph with an emphatic 5-1 win over Sudbury Sunday in the season finale – the club’s 12th straight victory.

The Generals, the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference, open the OHL playoffs Friday at the Tribute Centre against the Barrie Colts.

Considering the team was in the playoff bubble at the beginning of 2024, the past three months have been quite the ride for the Generals and their fans.

Overager Connor Lockhart was the hero Friday with both goals, including the overtime winner just 18 seconds into the extra period, and club top scorer Calum Ritchie (80 points in just 50 games) and big man Dylan Roobroeck scored twice each Sunday to send the fans home happy and anticipating a long run in this year’s playoffs.

Jacob Oster got both wins in the crease to take his win total to 35, tied for first in the league with London’s Michael Simpson.
