GO trains won’t run this weekend in Toronto’s far west end, south Mississauga and areas farther west, transit officials said Friday morning in a reminder to the public.
With workers completing “major track upgrades” on a normally busy section of the Lakeshore West line, no GO trains will run between Mimico GO station in west Toronto and Aldershot GO in Burlington on Saturday and Sunday (May 30-31), Metrolinx, the provincial agency in charge of GO Transit, said in its update.
That means no trains will be running during that period in part of west Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and Burlington. There will also be some late-night service adjustments on Friday, the transit agency noted.
However, regular Lakeshore West train service will continue between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO, and between Mimico GO in west Toronto and Union Station in downtown Toronto, transit officials said.
Regular GO train service along the line will resume on Monday.
“These track closures are required to make essential improvements that will support faster, more frequent GO service as part of GO expansion,” Metrolinx said in its update.
Officials added GO customers should take note of the following this weekend:
- GO replacement buses will operate, making stops at West Harbour, Aldershot, Burlington, Oakville and Clarkson GO stations before then continuing to Bramalea GO where customers can connect to eastbound trains on the Kitchener GO line to Union Station in downtown Toronto.
- There will be no GO Transit service at all at Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit or Long Branch GO stations on May 30-31.
- Special GO trains will run between Mimico GO and Union Station on a 15-minute schedule on May 30-31.
