Major road in Ajax to close for 5 days for construction work

Drivers should take note of an upcoming road closure in Ajax that’s expected to last for five days.
Southbound lanes on Salem Road will be closed from Highway 401 to Achilles Road for construction of new electrical and telecommunications infrastructure for a pending Metrolinx project.
The construction work will support the GO Train expansion into Bowmanville.
“Access to eastbound and westbound Highway 401 will be maintained during this closure,” says the Region.
The closure is expected to last from March 2 to 6, but unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
