Major road construction projects outlined for Milton

Construction season is now underway across Ontario and Milton drivers will not be excluded from delays and road closures.
The Town of Milton says infrastructure work amounting to almost $30 million will be carried out this year on projects such as reconstruction, bike lanes, sidewalk expansion, asphalt improvements, intersection modifications, urbanization (curbs and gutters), storm sewer rehabilitation and bridge maintenance.
“This year, residents can expect road closures and lane restrictions on main roads and side streets as the town continues to evolve the transportation network.” reads a statement on Milton’s website. “The town recognizes the inconvenience these alternatives may pose, but are critical to advancing Milton’s long-term transportation needs. Regular operational maintenance on roads and sidewalks are ongoing in our community to keep residents safe, enhance traffic safety infrastructure, and promote a walkable and bicycle-friendly community.”
During construction, residents are encouraged to plan travel in advance, consider alternate routes, follow signage and be patient while travelling in and around construction areas.
Road closures and lane restrictions will be found on both main arterial roads and side streets. Notices will be delivered to residents directly affected by construction prior to construction start.
