Festivals and events in Brampton are a blast, but with many events come a set of major road closures that are just as important to know about!
Rogers Hometown Hockey is happening this coming weekend on Saturday March 10 (12-6 p.m.) and Sunday March 11 (12 p.m.-end of viewing party) in Garden Square. Hosted by Ron MacLean and Tara Slone, big names in NHL alumni Darryl Sittler, Rick Vaive and Wendel Clark will be there, and live entertainment and activities are set to take over the square.
The Hockey Night In Canada: Punjabi Edition broadcast team will also be there on the 11th.
Road closures will be in effect from the 8th through the 12th. Here is the official list of road closures for the event, courtesy of the city:
- Main Street North from Queen Street to Theatre Lane
- Queen Street East from George Street to Main Street
- Queen Street West from Main Street to Chapel Street
- Main Street South from Queen Street to Wellington Street
- Please note that John Street will be converted to a two-way street for the above closures
The free hockey-themed weekend will feature a Rogers Fan Hub, pick up ball hockey games, performances by Ashlynne Vince on Saturday, followed by AHI and the Skydiggers on Sunday, free pizza slices from Dr. Oetker Giuseppe Pizzeria, and much, much more.
Following festivities in the Square on March 10, you can join Ron MacLean and Tara Slone on March 11 at 6 p.m. for a live, pre-game broadcast from the Rogers Hometown Hockey Mobile Studio. Then, there will be an outdoor viewing party on the big screen at 7 p.m. when the Calgary Flames, including hometown player Sean Monahan, take on the New York Islanders.
Residents are asked to wear red to welcome Hometown Hockey, and the clock tower at City Hall will be lit up in red to celebrate, too!
