Major road closure for watermain repair extended until November in Brampton

Drivers can expect the traffic slowdown on Coleraine Drive Brampton to last a little longer than originally planned as crews continue watermain work.

Peel Public Works began installing new watermains and improvements to the existing sanitary sewer system on Coleraine Dr. in May, leading to road closures.

Coleraine Drive has been closed from Countryside Dr. to Regional Rd. 50 during construction which was expected to wrap this month, but the region now says the closures will remain in place until at least November.

“As a major north-south arterial road in Brampton, the road closure will increase travel times,” the region said in a release. “Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes. Detour routes will be marked with road signs.”

The southbound lane of Coleraine Dr. is fully closed and the Region says residents and business owners within the impacted area will only be able to access their properties from the northbound lane, as no through traffic will be allowed.
