Major rain and potential flooding expected in Hamilton, St. Catharines and rest of Niagara Region

A lot of rain is in the forecast for Hamilton and Niagara Region, including St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland and Grimsby.
Periods of heavy rainfall will begin Family Day evening (Monday, Feb. 21) and continue through to Tuesday evening, with total rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 mm possible.
The frozen ground will have a reduced ability to absorb the rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding in some areas.
The rain should subside by Wednesday, Feb. 23.
