Major power outage affects over 2,000 homes in Brampton

Quite a few Brampton residents are finding themselves without power this morning (Dec. 17).
At 10:40 a.m., Alectra Utilities confirmed an unplanned power outage in the area of Chinguacousy Road to Main Streeth North and Wanless Drive to Steeles Avenue West.
Approximately 2,068 homes and businesses are affected.
The cause of the outage is being investigated.
Crews have been dispatched to the scene, but there’s no currently estimated time of repair.
UPDATE (11:34 a.m.): Due to the outage, traffic lights are out in the area of Kennedy and Tullamore Road.
Police are asking drivers to treat intersections with non-functional traffic lights as a four-way stop.
