While the country anxiously awaits the result of the 43rd federal election, more than 2,000 Hamilton residents may experience more suspense than the rest of the country, as a major power outage is affecting a large portion of the city. 

Currently, 2,417 homes and businesses in the area of Dunbar Avenue and Greenhill Avenue and Graham Avenue and Parkdale Avenue are without power. 

Crews are currently working to fix the problem, and power is expected to be restored by 11:30 p.m.

UPDATE: 

As of 8:26 p.m., power has been restored to more than 1,500 homes and businesses, and only 862 are still experiencing the outage.
