Major Mississauga road closed after cars crash

Update: Dundas St has reopened but emergency crews remain on site, choking traffic.

Mississauga’s major thoroughfare is shuttered for the time being after two cars crashed into each other.

The car collided on Dundas St near The Credit Woodlands, toward the city’s south. Peel Regional Police received the 911 call regarding the crash shortly before five. They publicly announced the collision about 45 minutes later at 5:30 p.m.

An elderly man, riding as a passenger in one of the cars was hurt badly enough to be taken to hospital. However, police do not know his condition at the moment.

In their announcement, officer stressed to drivers to take alternate routes through the area.

Susanne Cyr, an area resident described the crash as “yet another accident” at the intersection.

She’s concerned about the frequency of such collisions, “When school starts this is where kids are going to be crossing,” Cyr said. “There’s an accident here almost every other month.”
