Update: Major intersection closed as police car involved in collision in Brampton

A major collision closed streets this morning in Brampton.
The two-vehicle collision involved a police cruiser in the area of Rutherford Road and Orenda Road in Brampton early this morning (Jan. 30), said Peel Regional Police.
Rutherford Road is closed both northbound and southbound between Orenda Road and Clark Boulevard.
Police suggested drivers use alternate routes.
The call came in at 3 a.m.
Update: The police officer’s injuries are minor.

The driver of the vehicle involved faces dangerous driving and other charges. His injuries are also minor and he has been released from hospital.
Roadways will be opening up shortly, police said around 8:30 a.m.
