Major Grocery Store Giving Away Free Groceries

If you were hoping to get a bit of a break on groceries, you might be very happy to hear that one major grocer is offering eligible customers a free $25 gift card.
Loblaws is offering the gift cards to customers who were overcharged for the cost of some packaged bread products.
For those who are unaware, some shoppers overpaid for products at a number of major grocery stores (Loblaws included) due to an industry-wide price fixing arrangement involving select products that spanned 14 years.
In a statement released yesterday, George Weston and the brand announced that "actions have been taken" to address Loblaws' role in the situation.
“This sort of behaviour is wrong and has no place in our business or Canada’s grocery industry,” said Galen G. Weston, chairman and CEO of Loblaw and Weston Bakeries. “This should never have happened.”
The $25 Loblaw Card can be used to purchase items sold in Loblaw grocery stores across Canada.
Starting on January 8, 2018, Loblaw customers can click here to register and, if eligible, receive a card.
The deadline for registration is May 8, 2018.
In the meantime, shoppers can visit www.LoblawCard.ca to request a notification when registration opens.
So there you have it—a good chunk of your groceries will be completely free in the New Year if you're eligible for a card.
