It’s official! The big sign outside says so.

Food Basics will be opening up a new location along the Oakville/Burlington border next month.

A sign outside the Burloak Marketplace Plaza signals the chain store will open at the Burloak Dr. and Rebecca St. location on July 20.

Technically, the store will be in Oakville and will mark the town’s third Food Basics location. The others are at 478 Dundas St. W. and 530 Kerr St.)

In Burlington, there are three existing stores at 3365 Fairview St., 5353 Lakeshore Rd. and 1505 Guelph Line.

In Oakville, the future of the Kerr St. location is in doubt as developers look to overhaul the entire plaza located at the northwest corner of the intersection at Speers Rd.
Residents who live near this future home of several highrises at Kerr/Speers fear Food Basics will be lost during the construction phase of the development and may disappear completely if other commercial tenants are encouraged to move in. A decision about this development has not been finalized.
