One of the major outdoor events in Mississauga returns to Celebration Square this weekend.

The Halal Food Festival is a celebration of halal food connecting a diverse variety of cuisines along with special activities and entertainment.

Annually attracting more than 20,000 people, the festival will allow attendees to sample food and products from more than 50 vendors representing cultures from the Middle East and South Asian countries as well as those who have added a Canadian flair to their creations.

Performances and entertainment provided by local artists will be available to experience, along with stalls selling  clothing, jewellery and local services.

The festival picks up in its ninth years after facing postponements for two years due to the pandemic. As such, organizers promise this year’s festival will be one of the biggest halal events in the GTA and will give those who have never experienced the food and culture and chance to join in the celebration.

Festival hours are Saturday, June 11 from noon to 11 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Celebration Square in located directly in front of Mississauga City Hall on Burnhamthorpe Rd. near Square One.
