Major chain restaurant gets eviction notice in Oakville

A long-time dining fixture at a busy central-Oakville plaza has shut its doors.

Boston Pizza, at Dorval Crossing Plaza (Dorval Dr. and North Service Rd. W.), closed recently after 15 years of operation at the location.

An eviction notice was posted on the door of the restaurant and dated July 18, 2022.

A Canada-wide chain with 380 locations, Boston Pizza opened its first restaurant in Edmonton in 1964 and quickly grew and can now be found in most urban settings.

Before becoming Boston Pizza, the Dorval Crossing location was once home to the Oar House/McGinnis Landing, another popular spot for Oakville residents of a certain generation.

While some reports indicate the closure may not be a permanent one, corporate representatives of Boston Pizza did not respond to requests to clarify the situation.

In the meantime, some social media posts say they will miss the pizza and wide-variety of menu items that the location served up.

“I’ve been going there for years, it was a great place to meet friends and watch sports,” said Donnie Russell on Facebook. “They served a lot of great items. I’m really going to miss it.”

While the Dorval Crossing location has closed, Boston Pizza still has a local presence at the Oakville Entertainment Centrum (QEW and Erin Mills Pkwy.) and at 499 Dundas St. W. at Neyagawa Blvd.
