It’s perfectly understandable that Marek Lewandowski wants some time to “calm down” before making plans for his family’s future.

After all, the 50-year-old Mississauga construction worker suddenly finds himself $5 million richer after winning the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the March 1 draw.

Understandably, he and his family are still absorbing the good news and celebrating their good fortune.

“I want to calm down and really put some thought into it before making any decisions,” Lewandowski, a regular lottery player,  shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall.

The Mississauga father said he scanned his ticket a couple of days after the draw and couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

“I thought I won $5,000 at first, but after a closer look I realized it was a $5 million win. I was calm, but excited; I scanned it another four times. I was so amazed,” Lewandowski said.

He added that he’s still having a hard time believing he won.

“Even though I have this cheque, it’s still hard to comprehend. It’s just amazing,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shell, on Central Pkwy. in Mississauga.
