A Mississauga couple thought they won $57 on a lottery ticket, but instead took a much bigger prize.
Carlos and Francisca Fuentes of Mississauga claimed a second prize worth $57,924.90 in the June 25, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said.
The Fuentes, married parents of four and grandparents of eight, enjoy playing the lottery as a team. Carlos has been a loyal lottery player since the days of Wintario, while Francisca picks up a ticket every once in a while.

The couple said their daughter gave them the prize-winning ticket as a gift.
When they scanned the ticket using the OLG app, they thought they had won $57, the couple said.
They soon realized it was more than $57,000 and excitement filled their car, they told OLG. The couple didn’t tell anyone until they could confirm it.
The Fuentes stopped at a store to use the ticket checker and once confirmed, they finally told their family.

The winning ticket was purchased at Esso/Circle K on Highway 27 in Vaughan.
