Every friendship deserves a “good blessing” like the one shared by Britney Dacosta of Brampton and Melissa Ottley of Georgetown.

The two friends are certainly richer for their relationship today after winning $500,000 in the Lotto Max draw on June 8 and adding another $2 win in the Encore.

They shared the $1 million MAXMILLIONS prize with another winning ticket.

Dacosta and Ottley, who had just recently started playing lotto as a group, have been friends for 11 years and it hasn’t taken long to hit pay day.

“I checked my ticket the day after the draw and when I saw the Big Winner screen I was numb – I had no voice to scream,” Dacosta said while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their winnings.

“I gave myself a couple minutes to compose myself before I called Melissa, and then told her good friendships deserve a blessing. Sometimes those blessing are $500,002!”

Both plan to share some of their winnings with family and save some of the money to put a down payment on a house.

“I feel so grateful and humbled,” Ottley said.

“This was an amazing surprise!” Britney added.

The winning ticket was purchased at Krown Convenience on North Park Drive in Brampton.
