London man wanted for North Bay robbery captured in St. Catharines

On August 16, Niagara Police were tipped off by the North Bay Police that a man who committed an armed robbery using a gun was believed to be somewhere in the Niagara Region.

Yesterday (August 17) just past 9 am, the police found him at the Montebello Park area in St. Catharines. A quick search revealed a loaded Glock 9mm handgun inside a cross-strapped satchel across his torso.

Joshua Shirley, 26, of London has been charged with:

  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm without Holding a Licence
  • Possession of a Firearm, Weapon or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

He remains in police custody, scheduled for a bail hearing today (August 18) at the courthouse in St. Catharines.
