A pair of adjoining high schools in north Ajax were locked down this afternoon after one school received an online threat.

Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School on Harwood Ave. N., just north of Rossland Road, was placed under lockdown by the Durham District Catholic School Board after receiving the threat. J. Clarke Richardson Secondary School, located right next door to Notre Dame, also went into lockdown as a “precautionary” measure.

Durham Regional Police did release any details of the threat but declared there was “no threat to public safety” when the lockdown was lifted at both schools shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Notre Dame was also placed in lockdown after an online threat was made in February 2020 and in 2010 when a 14 year-old student was found with a gun.
