A loaded handgun was seized after a vehicle stop for a cannabis investigation in Brampton.
Patrol officers stopped the vehicle on Jan. 21 at approximately 11 p.m., Peel Regional Police said.
Police didn’t say where in Brampton the vehicle was stopped.
Officers seized a loaded, illegal handgun.
Four people were arrested and charged.
Traevon Pinnock-Smith, a 22-year-old man from Brampton, faces several charges, including carrying a concealed weapon, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
Cassie Kerridge, a 23-year-old woman from Toronto, is charged with being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, and drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open original packaging.
Keyante Henry-Spencer, a 23-year-old woman from Toronto, and Jonathan Anderson, 22-year-old man from Brampton, were charged with being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.
“Every day our officers go out on patrol and answer hundreds of calls without knowing what they may encounter, or who may be carrying a gun; this is yet another stark example of their dedication to serving our community and the importance of proactive police work,” said Peel Police Deputy Chief Mark Andrews.
