Two Mississauga men are among four people facing numerous gun and drug charges after police in Collingwood seized two loaded handguns, cocaine and fentanyl this week.

The arrests and seizures came on Tuesday as part of a drug trafficking investigation in which police officers in several jurisdictions were looking into the trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl in the Collingwood and Owen Sound areas, police said.

Tactical unit officers were in on the Tuesday takedown, which led to the arrests and the recovery by police of two loaded semi-automatic handguns, 67.9 grams of fentanyl, 41.3 grams of cocaine, and a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia.

Ontario Provincial Police working out of the Collingwood and Blue Mountain detachment said the investigation was aided by members of the Barrie OPP organized crime enforcement bureau.

They added in a news release the probe was launched after police identified a number of people they believed were “engaged in the trafficking of drugs” in and around Collingwood and Owen Sound.

Collingwood is located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay, near the popular Blue Mountain resort and about 55 kilometres northwest of Barrie. Owen Sound is about 65 kilometres west of Collingwood.

Karime Khairy, 23, Mohammed Salih, 27, both of Mississauga, Mohamed Ahmed, 25, of Scarborough, and Alexia Fournel, 20, of Milton, face numerous charges including possession of a firearm, other firearms charges and possession of both cocaine and opioid for the purpose of trafficking.

All four appeared in court virtually for bail hearings on Wednesday.
