Loaded gun and replica firearms found in a traffic stop in Mississauga

A loaded gun was found in a traffic stop in Mississauga.

A vehicle was stopped in the area of Tomken Road and Derry Road in Mississauga just before 8 a.m. on Friday (Dec. 1), Peel Regional Police said in a press release.

Police say they found a loaded firearm inside the vehicle along with other replica firearms.

Robert Broomer, a 34-year-old man from Kitchener, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm without a licence, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, and three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

At the time of arrest, Broomer was on a lifetime weapons prohibition order.

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
