Loaded gun and drugs seized during traffic stop in Mississauga

A 26-year-old man from Brampton is facing multiple criminal charges after Peel Regional Police arrested him on Monday morning (Aug. 7).

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m., near Dundas St E and Dixie Road in Mississauga.

Officers were called to the area to investigate a case of impaired driving when they encountered the suspect.

However, a subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of an array of contraband.

Among the items seized were a loaded 9mm Magnum pistol, along with ammunition and drugs within the vehicle.

The man now identified as O’Shane Dixon, has been charged with six criminal offences including,  impaired operation of the vehicle, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition readily accessible and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Dixon was taken into custody and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
