Loaded firearm and marijuana seized in Brampton traffic stop at a parking lot

Police found a loaded revolver and marijuana in a traffic stop this weekend.

Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle in a parking lot near Silver Maple Court and Lisa Street in Brampton just after 10:30 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 6), Peel Regional Police said in a press release.

After a search, officers seized a loaded .22 calibre revolver and an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

Leander Fernandes, 22, from Brampton, was charged with the following offences:

  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of firearm with altered serial number
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

Fernandes was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
