The Living Arts Centre (LAC), a long-standing event space in Mississauga’s City Centre neighbourhood known for hosting everything from operas to award ceremonies, is celebrating its 25th anniversary (and giving away something festive in the process).

To celebrate its quarter-century birthday, the LAC will be giving away two tickets to The Nutcracker through a contest held on Instagram.

To enter, Instagram users must ensure they’re following @saugalive and tag their friends. The winner will receive two tickets valued at $140 to the show on Dec. 4. The draw will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 12:00 p.m.

This past weekend, the facility also celebrated with an open house that featured a performance by the Mississauga Symphony Youth Orchestra, live demonstrations by the Living Arts Centre’s pottery and glass-blowing resident artists and an artisan sale.

“The LAC has been a premier destination for families, friends and the community to come together to enjoy the arts, culture and live performances in [Mississauga]. Congratulations on this milestone,” said Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie, who also attended the open house, on social media.

The centre is home to a landmark atrium, three theatres, seven professional craft studios and an in-house restaurant.

Each year, the centre welcomes over 400,000 visitors and hosts hundreds of performing arts, educational, community, and corporate events and activities.

Along with The Nutcracker, upcoming events at the LAC include the Music of Italy and Argentina and musicians William Prince and Jann Arden.
