For those of us who can’t wait for the holidays to begin, Streetsville’s annual Christmas in the Village is the perfect opportunity to kick off the holiday season in Mississauga.

On Nov. 17 and 18, Streetsville will light up its Village Square as part of their traditional tree lighting ceremony. This year the event will feature live music, delicious food, a huge artisan market with over 30 vendors, photos with Santa, and more holiday-inspired activities for the whole family!

The free event happens on Friday, Nov. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On that same day, the popular Shop the ‘Ville Contest returns: shoppers who buy from a Streetsville BIA business from Nov. 17 through Dec. 24 could win one of three prizes, including the grand prize of an overnight stay at the Hilton Meadowvale and 500 Streetsville dollars.

The second place prize is 250 Streetsville dollars and the third place prize is 100 Streetsville dollars, which can be used at any Streetsville BIA shop or restaurant.

Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village is gearing up to be even bigger and merrier this year, with live music and entertainment to help residents of all ages feel the holiday spirit while sipping hot cocoa.

This year there are tons of activities for families and friends to enjoy together, including horse-drawn carriage rides, cookie decorating, arts and crafts, and more.

Additionally on Saturday, Queen Street South will be closed to make room for a Polar Express train and fun interactive ice activities, including curling lessons.

And of course, no holiday celebration is complete without the big man himself. Santa Claus will be present from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. onwards on Saturday to spread the holiday cheer and pose for pictures.

While Christmas in the Village is a free event, there will be a food truck on scene for visitors to purchase food from as well as a huge artisan market composed of over 30 different vendors selling handcrafted goods. Browse the stalls and treat yourself to something nice, or do a little holiday shopping and find the perfect gifts for those special people in your life.

This holiday celebration is just one of many beloved traditions at Streetsville, known for hosting fun events all year round while also being home to some of the best local shops and restaurants in Mississauga, all within a picturesque walkable community with a cozy small-town vibe.
