The sound of ‘Music in the Square’ is finally back to the St Catharines’ Farmer Market.

Guitarist-singer John Restas, a well-known Burlington musician, will be the first performer tomorrow (July 3) that the Market Square has seen since last summer.

While the Farmers Market has been open for the past few months, operating on Thursdays 8 am to 2 pm and Saturdays 7 am to 1 pm, it was at 25 per cent capacity until June 30 when the Province’s Stage 2 of the reopening plan started.

The market capacity has now been hiked to the 50 per cent level, which started on Canada Day.

However, some of the Stage One restrictions will remain in place. The market will continue to operate offering one entrance and one exit to maintain one direction foot traffic flow.

As well, much like nearby shopping malls, no food consumption is allowed inside the market located at the corner of King Street and James Street. However, picnic tables are set up just outside for residents who would like to stop for a quick bite.

Facemasks and social distancing protocols are still in place for all patrons.
