Literary festival celebrates 'A Decade of Change' after 10 years in Brampton

The highly-anticipated FOLD festival is gearing up for its 10th anniversary and a new chapter with over 50 authors and 40 events coming to Brampton.

The Festival of Literary Diversity, also known as FOLD, returns to Brampton at the end of April, giving authors from across Canada a chance to showcase their works.

Billed as Canada’s first festival dedicated to diverse authors and storytellers, this year’s edition promises to give up-and-coming or under-represented authors a platform “to talk about their craft and about the issues that matter to them most,” FOLD founder Jael Richardson says.

“This year’s theme, A Decade of Change, allows us to reflect on the evolution and impact of the festival,” Richardson said in a release.

Along with author events and readings, Richardson says this year’s festival includes “ways to not only showcase great stories but to create moments of connection and creativity where readers and writers can talk, listen, and have fun as a community.”

A special FOLD preview event will kick-off the festival on April 26 with award-winning author Ian Williams in conversation with Richardson, and there will be a mix of virtual and in-person events for the 2025 FOLD festival with online programming starting on April 27.

A total of 14 in-person events will run during the festival including panel discussions, exclusive author meet and greets, and signature experiences that invite audiences to meet with authors.

The City of Brampton is also launching its first-ever Book Week which will run from April 23 to May 4 during the festival.

FOLD will run until May 4. For more information visit www.thefoldcanada.org or www.experiencebrampton.ca/bookweek.
