Theft at LCBO in Mississauga.

Police are on the hunt for two women after a security guard at a Mississauga liquor store was struck by a purse filled with bottles of booze during a theft.

Peel Regional Police said the loss prevention officer was assaulted while they and a second security guard tried to stop the two culprits from leaving the Elmcreek Road/Dundas Street West LCBO store with stolen goods at about 8 p.m. this past Saturday.

According to police, two women “concealed various items and made their way towards the exit, making no attempt to pay.”

As the two officers tried to stop the women, one of the culprits “struck one of the officers with her purse, which contained several liquor bottles,” police said.

The two women fled the scene while the security guard was treated at hospital for minor injuries, police added.

The first suspect is described as Black, about 20-30 years old, 5-foot-6, with a medium build, brown eyes, ear-length straight black hair, piercings to both ear lobes and a piercing to her right eyebrow. She was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, grey track pants, black running shoes and carried a black purse.

The second suspect is described as Black, about the same age and height as her accomplice, also with brown eyes and piercings to both ears, but with long braided black hair. She was wearing a red and white long-sleeve shirt, red shorts, white running shoes and carried a black purse.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
