For the third straight year, Lincoln is expecting a 24-to-48 hour turn-around on approvals for seasonal tent requests and temporary patio applications in the town this summer.

It’s all part of the town’s plan to fast-track past to usual red tape for the benefit of restaurants, bars, and wineries to help strengthen economic recovery and support an “Open for Business” message throughout Lincoln.

“As provincial restrictions lift, we want to ensure that our restaurants, bars, and wineries can serve larger capacities to help with pandemic recovery,” said Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton.

“Although COVID-19 is still circulating in the community, we understand the pandemic’s impact on Lincoln’s tourism and hospitality sector. We are here to play a supportive role in their road to recovery.”

Lincoln CAO Mike Kirkopoulos said town has been instructed to speed up the requests for all tent and patio applications during the 2022 calendar year with an eye towards one to two days tops.

Kirkopoulos said, “I strongly encourage all tourism and hospitality businesses to take advantage of the expedited process and apply for a temporary tent and patio extension this summer to support residents and visitors alike.”

All tourism and hospitality operators within the town looking to expand or create temporary patios can contact Matt Bruder, Director, Planning and Development, at [email protected].

Town staff will work with applicants to help them understand how they can safely operate an outdoor patio during the 2022 patio season.
