It is expected to be several hours before power is returned to about 100 homes in Burlington.

According to Burlington Hydro, the outage in the area of Guelph Line and Upper Middle Rd. was caused by a lightning strike around 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, affecting the Palmer area and other neighbourhoods.

Hydro officials say a pole fire caused by a lightning strike caused the sudden outage, which has left close to 100 people without power.

The latest update from Burlington Hydro estimates power being restored mid-afternoon.
