As of Monday (July 13), there have been 866 cases COVID-19 in Hamilton since the first confirmed case was reported here on March 11.

Of those cases, 858 are confirmed positive and eight are considered probable. There have been five new cases reported since the city last shared the numbers on Friday.

Currently, there are no active outbreaks being reported on the city of Hamilton’s COVID-19 website, but local reports say that one asymptomatic staff member at Grace Villa Nursing Home on the East Mountain has tested positive for the virus.

It’s been more than a month since the City of Hamilton has reported an active outbreak at a long-term care or congregate care facility in the city.

Reports say the latest case was found as the result of mass testing, as per provincial protocols.

There have been no new deaths associated with COVID-19 reported since late June. The city’s death toll remains at 44.

The city’s rate of resolved cases is holding at 92 per cent, meaning that 797 of Hamilton’s overall cases have been resolved.

The numbers show that there are currently, around 25 (this number factors in probable cases) active cases of the virus in the community at the moment.

Meanwhile, Ontario reported 116 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, along with three new deaths due to the novel coronavirus.

The total number of cases now stands at 36,839, which includes 32,663 marked as resolved and 2,722 deaths. More than 20,896 tests were completed over the previous 24 hours.

The numbers of people in hospital because of the virus, as well as those in intensive care and on ventilators, all slightly decreased.

The province noted that 21 of Ontario’s 34 health units are reporting no new cases at all.
